NYU Martin Scorsese Center for Virtual Production
I earned my master’s degree in Virtual Production from New York University as part of the inaugural class of the program. Over the course of the year, I trained extensively in cutting-edge tools and workflows used in modern filmmaking. This included hands-on experience with ROE Visual LED panels, Unreal Engine 5, Perforce, Live Link, Switchboard, Shogun motion capture, Blender, Maya, and Metahumans. I learned to operate a full virtual production wall and developed a deep understanding of the entire virtual production pipeline—from pre-production to final post.
During the program, I contributed to four fully virtual production short films, including one project that I lead produced from start to finish. That meant overseeing script development, scheduling, pre-vis, tech-vis, on-set operations, asset integration, and final delivery. Being embedded in every stage of the process allowed me to connect the creative vision with the technical execution, a balance that is crucial in this evolving landscape.
As a producer, this experience was invaluable. I now have a clear understanding of how to design, run, and deliver a virtual production shoot at a high level. More than just learning the tools, I developed the fluency to collaborate across departments, solve pipeline challenges, and push creative boundaries with confidence. Virtual production is not just the future of filmmaking—it’s happening now.
